Piezoelectric technology is used for touch controls. If a force is applied to a piezo switch button, surface charges are induced by the dielectric displacement and an electrical field is built up. Electrodes transform it into electric voltage. This voltage is used to operate a solenoid valve that controls the flow to the terminal fittings (taps, urinals, W.C. or showers) Since the control mechanism is more robust than the infrared sensor, this technology is ideal for prisons, detention centers and barracks.
